Meet David G Schafer, President of Landscape
Enterprises, Inc.
With a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Agriculture and Master’s Degrees
in Management, Horticulture, and Adult Education, David is an expert in his field. He worked at Santiam Golf Course and later
served as Assistant Golf Course Superintendent at Bowman’s Mt. Hood Golf Course from 1974 to 1979. He was Landscape
Supervisor for Portland General Electric. Under his direction, a crew of 30 men landscaped 37 new substations, built the park
at the Trojan Plant and maintained 150 substations, which included over 350 acres.
Mr. Schafer served on the National
Board of Directors for Professional Grounds Management Society and received an award for special service. He has also filled
various leadership positions for the Portland Street Tree Commission, Portland Jaycees, Oregon Golf Course Superintendent
Assoc., Oregon Horticulture Society and Wilsonville Chamber of Commerce, while serving as President of the Northwest Agriculture
Show and the Horticulture Congress. These organizations raised and donated over $100,000 to scholarship funds and research
efforts.
The Wilsonville Parks commission asked Mr. Schafer to build a city park with volunteers and donations
only. He served for three years as a commissioner and later as chairman for that commission. Mr. Schafer’s accomplishments
have earned him the respect and recognition as a leader in the ground maintenance industry.
